About the Average Calculator
This average calculator runs entirely in your browser. Paste a list of numbers separated by commas, spaces, or new lines, and the tool instantly computes count, sum, mean, median, mode, range, variance, and standard deviation. Nothing is uploaded to a server.
Statistical measures explained
- Mean (average) — Sum of all values divided by the count.
- Median — The middle value when sorted. For an even count, the average of the two middle values.
- Mode — The value that appears most often. There can be multiple modes, or none if all values are unique.
- Range — The difference between the largest and smallest values (max − min).
- Variance — The average of the squared differences from the mean.
- Standard deviation — The square root of the variance.
Frequently asked questions
Does this tool upload my data? No. All calculations happen locally in your browser.
What separators are accepted? Commas, spaces, new lines, and semicolons all work. Mixed separators are also fine.
Are non-numeric values ignored? Yes. Anything that cannot be parsed as a number is silently filtered out.
What happens if there is no mode? If every value appears exactly once, the tool reports "No mode" — there is no most frequent value.
